St. John's Sadochok
Program Information
St. John's Sadochok has been in operation for over 50 years. The playschool is run by a parent executive, and requires the cooperation of all parents.
Classes are provided for children between the ages of 3-5 and must be toilet trained.
The program encourages learning through play and offers a variety of culturally rich experiences, including language, songs, crafts, customs, and traditions.
Both Bilingual (Monday and Wednesday) and Immersion (Tuesday and Thursday) classes are offered.
Classes are scheduled in accordance with the School year. The preschool curriculum emphasises:
- Ukrainian Language
- Culture And Traditions
- Eastern Rite Spirituality
- Creativity
- Self Confidence
Out of classroom Activities:
- Royal Alberta Museum
- Telus World of Science (Edmonton)
- Valley Zoo
- other child related sites
Guest speakers come in such as police and fire department. We also have parents come in for career day where they come in and talk about their profession.
In regards to play, gross motor skills such as jumping, hopping and arm and leg movements enhance a child’s physical development. In addition to developing a child’s physical development, developing fine motor skills enables the child to copy, print, use scissors to cut, complete a craft, etc.
Sadochok Schedule
Classes:
8:45AM to 11:45AM
Monday and Wednesday – Bilingual
Tuesday and Thursday – Immersion
The school year commences the first week in September and finishes the middle of June. Your child is welcome 10 minutes prior to classes commencing or upon departure 10 minutes will be given for those who are running late.
The school operates the same as the public and separate school system recognizing all statutory holidays such as Christmas, Spring and Easter breaks including summer holidays.
